Uninang Multicultural Workshop: Bunun Indigenous Cuisine
1 天 的行程
Hello everybody, welcome to Wuninang Multicultural Workshop. We’re now in Yongkang Community, a Bunun village. In Bunun, Uninang means gratitude and blessing. So when you want to say thank you to me, you can just say, Uninang. Our ancestors used to live along the central mountain range and hunt for a living. Right now, most of us have settled in various communities in Taiwan. The house you see right here is where my parents and I live. Now let me show you around our community.
This is our Bunun calendar. The calendar revolves around millet, Bunun’s staple food.
This tree is more than 100 years old. In 1968, our community was flooded.
Before we enter the mountain, we, Bunun, have the tradition to say hello to our ancestors.
As I mentioned earlier. Our ancestors used to hunt.Their weapons were bows and arrows and spears.
Please take a seat. Today, we’ve especially prepared Bunun indigenous cuisine.
Smoking has been widely practiced in Bunun’s food culture.
In this multi-grain bamboo rice, you will taste sticky rice, corn, pigeon peas and purple yam.
